I know, subtle right? I was going to go all literary and be creative and then I thought, what the heck. Just say it outright. So- I am. Go on over to Undercover with Deb and Beth or go to iTunes to download to your iPod or MP3 player- key word search-Deb and Beth or Check it out here!
How easy is that? I mean, seriously, I've given you two direct links and a search mechanism. So, really there's no excuse. Why wouldn't you listen?
By the way- we discuss James Patterson novels, programming Pandora and the new fall television series. It's a can't miss.
If you do listen, (and I'm counting on you to) come back here and leave a comment about what you enjoyed about this episode. Every person who leaves a comment will be entered to win a grab bag full of really cool stuff. (and by cool- I mean stuff that you'd love to have but maybe would have never thought to buy yourself.) I'll give you a week to do it- enjoy!
P.S. I apologize in advance- the audio quality is a bit remiss on this one. We've been trying to even both of our voices out- and unfortunately- one of us quite easy to hear and the other- you need to turn up the volume. We would like to blame our audio issues on this past weekend's Hurricane Irene, but unfortunately, we recorded it before she hit land.
It's been all over the Facebook and in the news and on the Twitter and so on and so forth...I will perpetuate this but with my own twist...
My alma mater, Ohio University took back the title of #1 Party School in the United States. Personally, I think all colleges and universities are party schools- (just some more than others.) My dad used to give me grief over that same title more than 25 years ago. That being said-there are a number of reasons a prospective student would want to choose this fine university. Here's one of them....
The Ohio University Marching 110! Simply awesome...(I might add, Beloved was in the 110, back in the day...)
Go Bobcats!
Next up- as I'm sure you've heard as well-
MTV is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary. In this day and age, it's not really known for it's music television programming, but back in my day it was the rage. I remember sitting in homeroom listening to kids talk about it and I was mesmerized by the thought of it. My favorite songs put to video. Kind of like watching American Bandstand when your favorite band was on- only better. It took my parents several months later to convince them to get cable tv, so I was forced to watch at friends' houses or live vicariously through others.
So, on the heals of Beloved's class reunion and MTV's anniversary- (and also because a fellow classmate put the idea in my head...) LISTEN UP CLASS OF 1982- WE ARE ABOUT TO START OUR SENIOR YEAR! Woo-Hoo! Party on- Wayne! What a great year we have in front of us....
What are your favorite MTV moments? Favorite videos or VeeJays? (I loved Alan Hunter.)
I have so many videos that I remember from that time period- but this one sums up the cheese factor of some of the videos from that time...
Why did he wear an eye patch for part of this video? It always bothered me.
Share your memories with me and even if you aren't going to be a Super Senior from the Class of 1982- I'd still like to know your favorites too!
In honor of the Royal wedding this week, I bring you some historical perspective on the Royals....
I do believe that I have spoken of my love for the Showtime series, "The Tudors." It's a fascinating historical, soap opera saga (albeit based on true happenings) of King Henry VIII. This program has everything you would want in a dramatic series. Interesting characters, fascinating plot lines, beautiful scenery and costumes and super Hottie actors playing almost every role. That being said, my favorite of all the characters (both the shows character and the actual actor) has been Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk , aka Henry Cavill.
Charles is King Henry's best friend and right hand man. From the start, Charles has been my favorite. I urge you to check out "The Tudors." You won't be disappointed. If you don't have Showtime, (I don't) you can catch all four seasons on Netflix or they are available on DVD.
Seeing Henry Cavill on "The Tudors" was my first introduction to this British actor. Imagine my delight and surprise when he appeared here...
Yep- that's right, he's the next Superman! I don't usually like the Super hero movies, but for him I will make an exception.
I am not one to go all movie star ga-ga...but I tell you, this guy is the next big thing...just sayin'...you heard my prediction for what it's worth. You know how I like to keep all my reader's informed of all things pop culture...And if I was 13 again and could hang a poster on my bedroom wall, well, Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk would be my first choice.
Don't you hate hearing those words from your doctor? "I'm sorry, it's viral. Take some blah, de blah, de blah and give it a couple of days...." Well, my computer came down with a virus. It was a terrible virus. This virus actually ate my virus protection and then hid that it ate my virus protection making it virtually impossible to know I was unprotected or that terrible things were happening to my computer. It started out with little things. The kind of things that make you question yourself - where eventually, you start to think that maybe you're the only crazy one. Like, where did that application go? Why can't I download photos anymore? Where did all my favorites go? Why will my email not open up- ever? It just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning? Why can't I ever save a blog post? Why does it just keep spinning and spinning and spinning?
Luckily, Beloved figured it out after a week of asking him to please check into the issues my computer was having. He went to run a diagnostic check and low and behold - NO Virus Protection.....among other ugly viral things.
Off to the computer repair shop we went and finally- I'm back. So to answer my friend and loyal reader if I gave up blogging for Lent? No, I've just had a virus. Hopefully, we'll be running at top speed soon. Thanks for sticking around...
On another and completely random note- did anyone catch the Series Finale of "Big Love?" Really, HBO, that was the ending? After all the years of following the trials and tribulations of the Hendrickson family, I'm at a complete and utter loss as to what to say about this. How do you feel about Series Finales? What have been your favorites? What do you feel were the worst endings - ever? "Big Love" is moving to top of my list - right behind the "Seinfeld" finale.
Well, since we're still in recovery mode, I'm going to take two Tylenols and call it a day... We'll be back in the saddle this week- PROMISE.
Well, this year I was not foiled. I did get the first ( third for a certain someone, but who's counting?) day of school photo.
So- here goes...
I shouldn't of asked.
Good thing I still have one child who likes to play along...
On another note of beginnings...a young man I know, Jake Hanus, who happens to be the son of a terrific woman I know from my parish is at the beginning of his professional career. He's a recent college graduate with a degree in television and film. He's in the running to be the Face of Fox in our area. This is a year long position that would be an outstanding opportunity for a young person trying to break into the biz...(as they say.)
Help a great guy out- and go to www.foxtoledo.com and click on the Face of Fox tab and then the sub-link "Face of Fox Top 11" watch his video all the way through- and automatically a vote will be cast for him. I think you'll be impressed. Usually, the "face" has been a young woman, and I say yeah girls, but Jake has a different take on things. So- watch often and good luck to Jake Hanus in making it to the Top 5!
I was doing the whole dueling computer thing today. Working on my laptop, catching up on lots of administrative stuff and watching HULU from my desktop computer. While I spent time reporting and typing- I had old episodes of "Glee" playing in the background.
I'm a little johnny come lately to this program. I didn't watch it in it's first season and I always seem to forget to watch it at it's regularly scheduled time. However, that's what HULU is for when you forget to DVR your tv programs. (Plus limited commercials.)
How can I sum up "Glee?" In a word- Contagious! One of the show's character's is Sue Sylvester. She's a sweatsuit wearing, cheerleader coaching, queen of the best lines in the whole show. Perhaps, all of television today, as we know it.
Sue talking to William- about Trophies-
"You know, for me trophies are like herpes. You can try to get rid of them but they just keep coming. Sue Sylvester has hourly flair ups of burning, itchy, highly contagious talent.
and later...
"You'd make a great trophy husband. You can probably tell by my obvious decorating style, I love me a trophy."
Favorite Quotes of the Week Part 2 of 2
"What happened?"
"I'm hungry."
"Where's my phone?"
"Can I play lacrosse?'
Welcome Back! We're all a whole lot better -with those profound words. Love to all.
**The following post doesn't really make sense- but these thoughts have been moving through the cerebral cortex...just wanted to share...kind of like a therapy session.
I always wanted to use that word- pijiggety...when you look it up on dictionary.com it states there is not such word- maybe because it's a state of mind...think about that...
Other words that I especially like -
off-putting- really a nice way of saying-eeww get away, gross, WTF...
heretofore- not really much use for this word- but I really like it...
I am addicted to the following tv shows...can not get enough of them-
Hoarders...just watch- that's all I can say
Real Housewives NY and NJ- First I will say I'm Team Bethany. What happened to you Jill Zarin? You are not nice nor are you funny. I'm so disappointed in you...
The Tudors- which the whole Tudor Age is a completely separate blog post- OMG- I'm obsessed with this time period...
Cougartown-I'm completely in love with Courtney Cox - again! That show is something else- love it. (don't let the name be off-putting....)
The Office- it just gets better and better!
Next up- celebrity commentary-
Yeah Sandra Bullock. Good for you for handling your personal life in such a classy way. I get you had to get it out about the baby- but you didn't go crazy and even though the guy deserves it- you're keeping it clean...
Jake the Bachelor- I didn't watch your show-and somehow, I still found you extremely annoying. (Perhaps I'm believing everything I read in the check-out line of the grocery store.) Then you went on Dancing with the Stars (a stretch for you I might add...the stars part) and when you were voted off you cried? Really? I don't even know what to say- but hurry up and finish up with your 15 minutes...can't wait for the news of your "break up" cuz we know that's coming...
BIG-NEWS!
Next week I get the pleasure of meeting another blogstar, Mentor! The other super cool part- is that I'll be meeting with other bloggers from the area. I'll be sure to give the dish. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time...reminds me of this....
What's on your mind? Random thoughts are ok- obviously...if you're still reading after all this nonsense...God love ya'!
Love,
D-pijiggety

Because everytime I see this video, it makes me happy.
I am huge fan of the 80's tv sitcom, "Designing Women." I have watched each program so many times, I can tell you what each episode is about within the first 30 seconds. Once the reruns made it to Lifetime TV, well, it was a daily staple. I'm surprised Youngest doesn't talk with a southern accent, as I nursed her each night before bed and first thing in the morning to an episode of "Designing Women."
Although, Dixie Carter went on to do so much more in her career, she will always be Julia Sugarbaker to me- forever loved and missed as well. Thanks for the laughter. Here's a Julia Classic-
